My Journey: “Fourteen years after winning Olympic Gold and just one year into motherhood, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.”
My Mindset: “While competing at the Olympic qualifier I fell on my first event, the balance beam. The saying was always, ‘You can’t fall and win’. However what I learned was that when you fall, you get back up. No matter what, you keep going. I went on to perform some of my best routines and took first place.”
My Mission: “Having cancer has taught me so much about myself, my health and my life. I wrote Competing with Cancer and continue my work at Shannon Miller Lifestyle to share what I learned from my journey. I want everyone to know that cancer is just another life challenge you have to compete with it if you want to win.”
